Questions + Answers

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes! Visit my store – renachristine.bigcartel.com – for easy online ordering anytime, or contact me for more info. Newborn Session packages make for a unique and treasured baby shower gift – great idea for a group gift too!

What is the best age to photograph a newborn?

I like between 6-12 days best as I find it gives you a chance to get comfortable with your new baby and they are still in that sleepy phase that doesn’t last long. That being said I have photographed “newborns” that were around a month old with excellent results.

Do you shoot in your studio?

Not currently. I love shooting on-location – coming to your home to photograph you with your new bundle of joy! I find this is not only a great way to incorporate more of who YOU are into your photographs but also less stressful for the new parents.

Are the digital files available for purchase?

Yes! There are several options to purchase the digital files – individually, as part of a package, or the entire session’s files. Contact me for more info.

How far in advance should I book my session?

Let me know your due date as soon as possible – this give me an idea of how many clients I’m expecting in any given week (or so). I limit the number of bookings I take to ensure I can devote the proper time and care to your session and photographs. Let me know as soon as possible after your little one arrives to book your session. If you’ve found me after your little one has arrived, contact me and I will do my best to get you in. A deposit is required to book your session.

What should I wear?

For newborn sessions, I suggest warm, neutral colours – try to stay away from bold patterns and colours. For family sessions, I suggest trying to coordinate your clothes instead of match them. See my blog post for some great ideas!

Why does custom photography cost more?

I find that many people just don’t know what all goes into the photographs on my website. Besides the years of University, and training from Internationally known photographers, many hours go into each session. One Newborn session, for example, is roughly 20 hours of work. Much different than a structured Wal-Mart type portrait studio. Here is a link  to an article that explains it well.

Each client that I take on is special to me – I am honoured that you have selected me to photograph you and your loved ones! I want to ensure your experience is memorable, not only because you love the photographs and the memories they represent but because you enjoyed the experience, and your relationship with me 🙂
